OUR ELDERS:
Ron Dugan - Ron was brought to faith in Christ in his 40s and has a great passion for the sovereignty of God in all things and for proclaiming the truths of His Word. He fills the pulpit when Pastor Jeff is away, shares in the teaching ministries of the church, helps with building maintenance, and teaches a weekly Bible study at the county jail. He is retired from many years of business management experience and has one son and two grandchildren. The Lord chose to take his dear wife Hannah home to be with Him, but by His grace Ron continues in the joy of growing in Christ and serving Him.
Colin Freel - Colin was added to our team of elders in January of 2020. Growing up in nearby Millersburg, he and his family began attending CBC in the early 2000s, moving to Georgia for several years before coming back to the area. Colin is a retired school teacher and actively serves the Lord in our church and community. He and his wife Esther have three adult children--and enjoy their four grandchildren as often as they get to see them. With a love for Christ and for His Word, he teaches our Sunday morning Bible class and fills in periodically in the weekly preaching of the Word.
John Nordin - The Lord brought John and his wife Ellen to Rogers City in the mid 1980s as John took a management position in the local limestone quarry operations. They have two daughters who are married and have provided John and Ellen with nine grandchildren (one with the Lord). John retired from the plant several years ago and now runs his own electrician business. He is a regular teacher of Bible classes and has chaired the church board for many years. He is a faithful servant of Christ who brings much wisdom and a steady hand to our leadership.
Jeff Ryan - With his fellow elders, Jeff has served as the pastor of CBC since 2000. He and his wife Kari moved from northwest Ohio and have four children, one teaching in Texas, one married & teaching in Ohio, one in college, and one at home. He is a graduate of Clarks Summit University (formerly Baptist Bible College, PA), followed by many years of gaining experience in an internship, two associate pastor roles, and a pastorate in Delta, Ohio. Jeff loves to preach and teach the Word of God, lead the corporate worship of His people, equip people to do works of ministry, and encourage men in their God-given roles.
OUR DEACONS:
John Gauthier - John has a great testimony of God's grace breaking into his life (and his wife Brenda's) in the mid 1990s and changing his life to one who loves and trusts in Jesus Christ. He and his wife have several adult children and grandchildren. They long to see their family come to trust Christ as well and walk with them one day in heaven. John is retired from commercial fishing and has been an asset to our church board. He and his wife enjoy opening up their home to host Bible studies and church fellowships, and he loves to serve in behind-the-scenes ways.
John Plath - John began serving as a deacon of CBC in January 2016 and is currently serving as church treasurer. He was brought to faith in Christ in the 1990s, much through the witness and prayers of his mother. He has been a part of this church family since then and has proven himself a faithful servant of Christ. He loves the Word of God and seeks to encourage others to read and study the Scriptures for themselves. He is the co-owner of Plath's Meats, a family business that has been established in our community for over 100 years. John strives to have a clear testimony of giving the glory to God for this business. John & his wife Kathy have been blessed with four children and ten grandchildren.
Mike Tackitt - God brought Mike to us from the west coast. Growing up in Oregon, the Lord worked in Mike's life as a teenager, bringing him to faith in Christ and a new life of following Him. He met and married his wife Melissa in Mexico, while they were serving with YWAM (Youth With a Mission). Melissa is from Rogers City, and they were led to move back here and soon became part of the CBC family. After a few years of moving out to Oregon and starting their family, they returned to Rogers City several years ago. They have two children and faithfully serve in many areas of our ministry. Mike works in the plumbing & heating industry, and they are active in being a light for Christ in our community.
